Worship

There are many ways we Worship. We believe how we pray shapes what we believe. We gather, as a community, three times a week for a celebration of what you may know as “Holy Communion,” “Holy Eucharist,” the “Great Thanksgiving” or the “Mass.” You’re welcome to one or all. We gather at other times to pray together.

What We Believe

In the Episcopal Church, we know that every journey toward God is unique and highly personal. You won’t be forced to think a certain way or “get in line” with everyone else. In fact, you’re welcome to bring your questions, doubts, hopes and dreams with you. At Saint Anthony on the Desert we Worship, Connect, Pray and Give on our corner of the Kingdom of God at 130th and Shea. We welcome you to join us on the way.

Music on the Desert

Our musical worship accompaniment is part of our Music on the Desert initiative.

Featuring concerts, special liturgical offerings and community music events, we celebrate a wide range of musical styles from classical to contemporary. Whether you’re a performer or a listener, Music on the Desert offers a soulful worship experience that uplifts, inspires and connects us all through the universal language of music.

St. Hildegard’s Choir brings voices of all ages together to lead and enrich our worship. Singing sacred music with a variety of traditions, the choir reflects the beauty of our diverse community and the joy of praising God as one body.

St. Dunstan’s Ringers brings rhythm, joy and a touch of tradition to our worship through the art of handbell ringing. Open to all ages and skill levels, this unique music ministry celebrates teamwork, shared learning and the joy of making beautiful music together in praise to God.

Celebrating You

Baptism

Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the church. God establishes an indissoluble bond with each person in baptism. God adopts us, making us members of the church and inheritors of the Kingdom of God. In baptism we are made sharers in the new life of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins. Baptism is the foundation for all future church participation and ministry.

Weddings

We celebrate the beauty of love and commitment. Whether you’re planning a wedding and the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, seeking a blessing of a civil union or renewing your vows, we welcome you into our sacred space. Our clergy and faith community are honored to walk with you as you mark these joyful moments. Come as you are; all are embraced in God’s love. Confirmation

Those who were baptized at an early age and those baptized as adults without laying on of hands by a bishop are invited to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, recommit themselves to the responsibilities of their baptism and receive laying on of hands by a bishop. Adults baptized with the laying on of hands by a bishop are considered to be confirmed.

Baptized persons who have been members of another Christian fellowship and who wish to be affiliated with the Episcopal Church may make a public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their baptism in the presence of a bishop.
